Our People

At SIAEC, our people are our greatest asset.

We believe in the importance of attracting, retaining, motivating and developing the right talent to achieve their full potential. In this regard, we are committed to foster an inclusive work environment which provides equal opportunities to all our employees to achieve their full potential. Our people management policies and processes are guided by the principles of inclusion, equal opportunity and respect for all employees.

We are fully committed to upgrading the skills of our employees to meet our organisational needs and stay abreast of the latest technological advances in the aviation industry. Our Training Academy is well-placed to turn young diploma holders and university graduates into competent technicians and licensed aircraft engineers. It is a Maintenance Training Organisation approved by the civil aviation authorities and is recognised by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency. It provides a robust curriculum of training programmes to meet the training needs of our employees.

Structured learning roadmaps provide our staff with targeted and relevant learning opportunities at appropriate points in their careers. This includes functional training programmes that equip our staff with the requisite knowledge and skills to succeed in their current roles. Learning needs and course syllabi are reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that the courses offered are current and relevant. We also seek new tools and technologies to support learning and drive a culture of self-directed learning within the Company. Other developmental opportunities include on-the-job training and coaching, overseas postings and job rotations.

Besides staff development, we place a strong emphasis on employee communications to ensure that our workforce is continually engaged. Employees are updated on the latest corporate news and staff information through various channels such as our Company intranet portal, our mobile application 1SQ, mobile devices, micro-sites, online collaboration tools and inhouse newsletters. Our Senior Management regularly engages employees as well as our Union partners through dialogue sessions on the Company’s operating and financial performance, developments and initiatives. Likewise, managers actively share pertinent news, developments and initiatives at the divisional level which impact staff directly. Our supervisors drive daily performance dialogues and toolbox briefings to engage operational employees on work issues as well as to gather feedback. We also conduct regular employee climate surveys and pulse surveys to gather feedback on employee engagement and work-environment, in the pursuit of continuous improvement.

To foster a collaborative work environment and an engaging culture, we organise frequent departmental gatherings, company-wide events, recreational activities and sporting events to develop our employees’ social and personal development. In the same spirit, we also work in close partnerships with our Unions to ensure a robust and harmonious industrial relations climate, and to secure fair and sustainable outcomes for our people and organisation.

Our staff strength stands at over 4000, of whom the largest group of staff (60%) are technicians, followed by licensed aircraft engineers (20%), with managers, administrative officers and general grades making up the remaining 20%.
