SIA Engineering Company, Pratt & Whitney and Tube Processing Corporation Announce Joint Venture

Singapore, February 22, 2000 - SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC), Pratt & Whitney (P&&W) and Tube Processing Corporation (TPC) announced a joint venture to repair and overhaul aircraft engine components.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed at Asian Aerospace 2000 by Mr. Mervyn Sirisena, SIAEC Ag. Chief Executive, Mr. Robert Weiner, P&W Vice President for Engine Services, and Mr. George Seybert, TPC CEO and President.

The joint venture company will be located in Singapore. It will be the first such dedicated facility in the region and its repair capability will include tubes, ducts and manifolds for engines made by P&W, General Electric, Rolls-Royce, CFMI and International Aero Engine (IAE).

Pratt & Whitney and TPC have agreed to the formation of a broader collaboration to explore further business opportunities, primarily in North America.

Commenting on the joint venture, Mr. Sirisena said: "For SIAEC, this joint venture fits in nicely with our long-term growth strategy and complements our other joint venture companies." He added, "Partnership with leading OEM’s will allow SIAEC to broaden our comprehensive quality services to all our customers at competitive prices."

"Pratt & Whitney is extremely excited about this new venture in Singapore. This allows us to expand our repair capability in Asia and gives us the opportunity to work with two outstanding partners in Tube Processing Corporation and SIA Engineering Company," said Mr. Weiner.

"Tube Processing is excited about our alliance with SIAEC and Pratt & Whitney because of the synergy and strengths it brings to the customers," said Mr. George Seybert.

SIAEC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines and is a comprehensive aircraft maintenance repair organisation (MRO) providing line maintenance and technical ground handling, airframe and component repair and overhaul services for commercial airlines.
